1. A cube is painted red on all its faces and then cut into 27 equal smaller cubes (3x3x3). How many smaller cubes have no face painted at all?

  1. A1
  2. B8
  3. C6
  4. D0
Show answer

Answer: B

The cubes with no painted face lie entirely inside, away from all outer faces. For a 3x3x3 cube, this is (3-2)^3=1 cube, located at the very center.

2. In a standard dice, the sum of numbers on any two opposite faces is 7. If '6' is on the front face, what number is on the back (rear) face?

  1. A1
  2. B2
  3. C5
  4. D4
Show answer

Answer: B

Since opposite faces sum to 7, the face opposite to 6 is 7-6=1.
